Course Overview
The San Diego Half Marathon at Petco Park is designed to carry runners over a spectacular, scenic course through one of the world’s most beautiful cities. The 13.1-mile, USATF certified route will start and end at Petco Park, and runners will head for home through historic downtown San Diego. The final sprint is through the tunnel leading into Petco Park for an EPIC, Olympic-inspired stadium finish.

The route is USATF sanctioned and certified.

Wave Start
To ensure a great experience for every runner, we will be utilizing a wave start. This means that runners are grouped according to their individually predicted finish time. We start each wave, one after the other, at short intervals in between. Wave starts allow for plenty of space along the course without affecting your chip time or the time you have to complete the race. When you register for the San Diego Half Marathon, please be prepared to estimate your expected finish time so you can start in the correct wave.
Aid Stations
Keep hydrated and refreshed! Fully staffed and equipped water and support stations will be positioned along the course with plenty of water and portable restrooms.
- Ultima Electrolyte Drink (Grape Flavor) will be provided at 4 Aid Stations: Mile 4.1, 6.3, 9.5 and 10.8 Water will be provided at all 7 Aid Stations: Miles 2.5, 4.1, 6.3, 8.5, 9.5, 10.8 and 12
- GU Energy Gels (Assorted Flavors) will be available, preceding the water station at Mile 8.5
- Portable Restrooms will be 4 Aid Stations: Mile 2.7, 5.9, 9.5 and 10.8
Medical Support
The San Diego Half Marathon Medical Team is a dedicated group of medical professionals and first responders who are ready to assess any race day medical needs and provide first aid if necessary.

Note: Unauthorized bicycles, motorized vehicles, wheelchairs and strollers not permitted on the half marathon race course due to safety concerns.
